NETWORK EXIT / IP LOOKUP

IP Address Checker

See the public IP address our detection endpoint receives when your browser connects to this site. Switch routes and run the check again to compare the address and its listed location.

What this information means

Your public IP is not your device's address

The public IP is the address our endpoint sees when it receives a request. It may belong to your local network or to the exit point of your current route. It is not your device's local network address and cannot identify your device.

Split-tunneling rules may send different services along different paths. This result describes only the route used by this check; it does not mean every app is using the same route.

Location and ISP are database estimates

Country and region are usually based on IP databases. The ISP field may show an internet provider, network organization, or hosting provider. Database updates can lag, so the result may not match the device's actual location.

If the listed location differs from your selected route, first check the client connection and split-tunneling rules, then run the check again. A location label alone does not mean the connection is faulty.

Proxy detection is not a connection toggle. “Proxy detected” means the endpoint explicitly returned a matching flag. “No proxy detected” only means that this response did not include that flag; it does not prove that no proxy is in use. If the endpoint does not provide this field, this page shows “Temporarily unavailable” rather than making an estimate based on the IP or ISP name.

For help checking your client configuration, read the setup guide. If connection issues persist, visit the Help Center.

DNS / MANUAL CHECK

Check for DNS leaks

This page checks the route used by HTTP requests; it does not run a DNS leak test. A public IP that matches your expectations does not mean DNS queries are taking the expected path.

First, confirm the expected DNS path

DNS translates domain names into network addresses. A DNS leak occurs when DNS requests do not follow the intended network or privacy settings—for example, when requests that should be handled by the client still go to a resolver on the local network. If your split-tunneling rules allow some domains to use local DNS, seeing a local resolver does not automatically mean there is a leak; check the rules in context.

  1. Check your client’s DNS settings. Confirm the connection mode, DNS interception options, and domain-routing rules in use. With system proxy mode alone, some apps may still use the system resolver. Refer to the client’s actual capabilities and configuration.
  2. Review your system and browser settings. Check system DNS, Secure DNS in your browser, and any other network software that may handle DNS requests. A DNS service configured separately in the browser may use a different path from the system, so check each one.
  3. Use logs to inspect DNS requests. If your client provides connection or DNS logs, visit the service you want to check and review the matching rule, resolver, and route for its domain. Do not determine whether a leak occurred based only on the resolver’s name or registered location.
  4. Verify again after making changes. Follow your system and browser instructions to clear the DNS cache, then revisit the service. Run the connection check on this page afterward; DNS logs and public IP results need to be checked separately.

If your client does not provide enough DNS details, this page alone cannot determine whether a leak occurred. For further help, use the support ticket form in the user panel and describe your operating system, client connection mode, and steps to reproduce the issue. Do not submit your full subscription URL.

QUERY PRIVACY

Lookup privacy and limitations

Lookup data is not stored. This page retrieves results through this site's GeoIP endpoint and does not save them in your browser's local storage. The copy action copies only your public IP, and nothing is written to the clipboard until you click the button.

If the endpoint is unavailable, this page will say “Temporarily unavailable.” It will not switch to a public third-party API or generate a substitute result. Try again later, or check your connection after switching networks.

Your public IP is still network information. Before sharing a screenshot or troubleshooting notes, check for addresses, account details, or subscription information you do not want to make public. See our Privacy Policy for details on how information is handled.
